Apple Promotes Global Fitness With ‘Close Your Rings Day’ on April 24

Apple’s Close Your Rings Day: Global Fitness on April 24 | CIO Women Magazine

Apple Watch Encourages Global Participation in Fitness Challenge

Apple is inviting Apple Watch users across the world to celebrate Global Close Your Rings Day on April 24, 2025, by completing their Activity rings and earning a limited-edition award. As part of this initiative, users who achieve all three daily movement goals—Move, Exercise, and Stand—will receive a special animated badge and 10 exclusive stickers to share via Messages. The campaign encourages people to try something new, push themselves, and share their accomplishments using the hashtag #CloseYourRings.

Apple Watch, now widely recognized as the world’s most popular watch, continues to serve as a powerful fitness and health companion. Over the last decade, the Activity rings feature has helped users stay motivated with its engaging and customizable daily goals. Apple COO Jeff Williams emphasized the watch’s positive impact, saying, “People write to us almost every day sharing how Apple Watch has made a difference in their life—from motivating them to move more throughout the day, to changing the trajectory of their health.”

To further mark the occasion, Apple Stores globally will offer a free commemorative pin inspired by the award to customers, available while supplies last beginning April 24.

Research Confirms Strong Link Between Activity and Health

A new analysis from the Apple Heart and Movement Study, which includes data from over 140,000 participants, shows compelling health benefits associated with closing Activity rings regularly. The study, conducted in partnership with Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the American Heart Association, found that consistent completion of Activity goals is tied to better sleep, heart health, and mental well-being.

Key findings revealed that individuals who regularly closed their Activity rings were:

  • 48% less likely to suffer from poor sleep quality
  • 73% less likely to experience high resting heart rates
  • 57% less likely to report elevated stress levels (measured using the PSS-4 scale)

These benefits were observed across all age groups and both genders, reinforcing the importance of consistent physical activity. Lower resting heart rates and reduced stress levels are recognized indicators of improved cardiovascular fitness and mental health.

Apple Watch Features Continue to Evolve for Better Health Insights

Close Your Rings Day highlights how the Apple Watch’s Activity and Workout apps have become integral to users’ daily routines, helping them track and improve their health. The rings system—tracking calories burned, minutes of exercise, and standing activity—offers a simple and engaging way to maintain an active lifestyle. Users can tailor goals to fit their daily schedules and even pause their rings when taking rest days.

Beyond Activity tracking, Apple Watch supports a comprehensive suite of wellness features, including:

  • Advanced metrics for various workouts (running, swimming, cycling, and more)
  • Sleep tracking, menstrual health monitoring, medication management
  • Environmental noise level alerts and heart health insights

All health data is handled with strict privacy standards. When devices are secured with passcodes and use Apple’s default two-factor authentication, users’ data remains encrypted and unreadable even by Apple.

With science-backed accuracy and privacy at its core, Apple Watch continues to redefine how people manage their health—making initiatives like Global Close Your Rings Day more than just a fitness challenge, but a celebration of daily wellness.
