Known globally for her roles in blockbuster movies like Spider-Man and Dune, Zendaya Coleman is a woman of many talents. Her full name is Zendaya  Maree Stoermer Coleman, was born on 1st September 1996. 

Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, globally known by her first name Zendaya, was born on 1st September 1996. Born to parents in the teaching profession, studies were taken seriously at home. The American actress and singer started practicing art at a young age. She started by learning Hula, a Hawaiian dance form at the Academy of Hawaiian Arts and Dance.

She was in a dance troupe then, called the Future Shock Oakland, a hip-hop dance troupe. In 2010, she bagged the role of Raquel one of the lead characters in the Disney Channel’s Shake It Up, a comedy series. In 2011, she released her first single “Swag it Out” and her first album, Zendaya in 2013. It featured the hit song “Replay”. She started getting continuous work after it. 

By doing both singing and acting, Zendaya created a fan base of her own and she published a book titled “Between U and Me: How to Rock Your Tween Years with Style and Confidence” (2013), which she wrote for her preteen fans. An important part of the well-known Spiderman series she featured as Michelle Jones (MJ). This marked a crucial increase in her career graph and fame.

Owning to her deeds, Zendaya said in response that it was nothing new she’d started doing. The only difference was she did that in public and more people noticed it than usual.

As we all know she started working as a child model for famous brands like Macy’s, Mervyn’s, and Old Navy. She was a backup dancer before gaining fame for her role as Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up (2010). Bella Thorne, Kenton Duty, and Roshon Fegan were also a part of the project. Later in 2015, her series K.C. Undercover made the buzz and helped her gain the needed recognition.

  2. Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021): One of four movies released in 2021 alongside Zendaya, live-action/animated Space Jam: A New Legacy directed by Malcolm D. Lee served as the long-awaited awaited sequel to the original Space Jam released in 1996. Not her first voiceover but Zendaya Coleman stars as the voice of Lola Bunny.

The couple is shown returning from Malcolm’s movie premiere only to deal with catastrophic truths about one another. 
  5. Dune (2021): A small role but Zendaya’s presence is felt important in the movie. Her character Chani is Timothee Chalamet’s love interest in the movie. The movie is a two-part science-fiction blockbuster directed by Denis Villeneuve. Her performance was lauded by the audience and people are excited to see the reprise her role.  
  6. The Greatest Showman (2017): One of Zendaya’s biggest box office hits, The Greatest Showman has star celebs like Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, and Zac Efron in a movie that chronicles the rise of P.T. Barnum and his circus.
  7. Duck Duck Goose (2018): Again a voice-over stint, Duck Duck Goose is a Netflix animated film. Zendaya has voiced Chi, a duckling that is saved by Peng, voiced by Jeff Gaffigan. This movie was made in a collaborative effort between the United States and China. It was released theatrically and got a revenue of $5 million. 

Humanity is First for her:

Zendaya Coleman does a lot of charity work for the underprivileged. She has collaborated with various fellow artists to support various causes. She tries her level best to raise money by doing events and donating the money to charity.

Toys for Tots:

On the occasion of Christmas, every year, she teams up with Madison Pettis to support the Toys for Tots effort. The charity distributes toys to underprivileged children. 

Operation Smile:

This is an organization that helps in the treatment of children who are born with cleft lips and cleft palates. On October 21, 2022, she performed at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. The show benefited Operation Smile. She even took to social media and wrote a loving message for the attending audience. In the post, she mentioned the event being a charity effort and reminded people to attend the same. 

Convoy of Hope: 

A hurricane named Sandy destroyed the east coast of the United States in September 2012. Costly damages occurred and residents had to survive for days without electricity. On October 29th, 2012, Zendaya announced that she had collaborated with the team of Convoy of Hope to raise $10 million to help the East Coast residents cope with the loss suffered. 

Donate My Dress:

Zendaya Coleman, and her best friend, Bella Thorne, collaborated with the organization, Donate My Dress, to help every girl have a prom night. They donated prom or special occasion dresses, accessories, bags, and shoes through donations from other girls who donated their old prom items.
