An Unannounced Streaming Device Surfaces

Walmart appears to be gearing up for the release of a new Onn “Pro” Google TV 4K streaming box that doubles as a smart speaker. The device was inadvertently revealed by YouTuber Superdell-TV, who hosted a livestream showcasing the streaming box he had purchased from a Walmart store for $50. While the Walmarts Onn Pro was previously rumored, it has not been officially announced by the retailer, and it is currently unavailable on Walmart’s website, suggesting an accidental early stocking.

Upgraded Specs and Smart Speaker Integration

The Walmarts Onn Pro is essentially an enhanced version of Walmart’s existing Onn Google TV streaming box. According to the specifications shared by Superdell, the device supports 4K streaming, Chromecast, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Vision. It boasts 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and Wi-Fi 6 support, along with four rear ports: one HDMI, one USB 3.0, one ethernet, and a power connector. In contrast, the cheaper existing model offers 2GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, Wi-Fi 5, no Dolby Vision support, and a single HDMI port.

The standout feature of the Walmarts Onn Pro is its integrated smart speaker capabilities. The device resembles a square Google Nest Mini, with a fabric-covered speaker on top and a built-in microphone for summoning Google Assistant. Like Google’s Nest Home speakers, it includes a switch for deactivating the microphone.

Potential Value Proposition and Imminent Launch

With its support for Google Assistant and the combination of streaming and smart speaker functionalities, the Onn Pro might offer exceptional value at the rumored $50 price point, potentially making it one of the most affordable and feature-rich streaming boxes on the market.

While the company has yet to officially announce the Walmarts Onn Pro, the device’s appearance on store shelves suggests an imminent launch. However, the release date and pricing details remain uncertain until the retailer provides an official confirmation and product listing.
