Elon Musk has stepped into AI-wars with his new artificial intelligence company, Elon Musks X AI Corp. According to a filing, the company is based in Nevada.

Currently, Elon Musk is listed as a director, and Elon’s family office director is listed as a secretary. The filing also indicates that the business was incorporated by Elon on March 9th, 2023.

Putting an End to Rumors

The rumors about Elon starting his own AI company have been making rounds for quite a while now. A report from Business Insider recently suggested that Elon Musk is buying thousands of Nvidia GPU processors essential to managing the large computational power required to build AI.

When Elon was asked about these purchased GPUs during an interview on Twitter Spaces, he hadn’t expressed any desire to build an AI company at the time stating—“it seems like everyone and their dog is buying GPUs at this point.”

The Role of AI Regulations

Elon Musks X AI has been calling for the regulations of Artificial Intelligence. Recently, he appealed to the government to regulate it and also expressed on Twitter that AI regulation will be far more important than it may seem today.

Last month, Elon, along with others, signed a petition, calling for a six-month or longer freeze on the development of the powerful AI tools of today. The signatories of this petition believed that the halt in AI development would provide enough time to put safety standards in place, helping determine the potential threats these advanced AI tools would pose to civilization.

OpenAI’s GPT 4, the current tech from the company is already in the advanced development stage of artificial general intelligence (AGI). However, the letter is targeted at OpenAI and their next-gen technology that is GPT-5. Currently, OpenAI is still working on its GPT-4 and has not yet shown any signs of developing the GPT-5.

AI space becoming more competitive

The AI space just got more interesting with the inclusion of Elon Musks X AI as it competes with other tech giants such as Microsoft and Google. The current AI tools are impressive at emulating and even outperforming some humans, the future generations would do an even better job, warn critics.
