Federal investigators said Thursday that a charter jet pilot took off without permission in February, causing a “conflict” with a JetBlue plane preparing to land on an overlapping runway at Boston’s Logan International Airport. When the JetBlue Embraer flight saw a plane cross in front of them, the pilots believed they were around 30 feet (9 meters) over the ground – the captain stated he couldn’t determine how near they were to the plane. Federal investigators said Thursday that a charter jet pilot took off without permission, causing a “conflict” with a JetBlue plane about to land on an overlapping runway at Boston’s Logan International Airport in February.

According to a National Transportation Safety Board study, the pilots of the JetBlue Embraer jet believed they were about 30 feet (9 meters) off the ground when they saw a plane cross in front of them – the captain claimed he couldn’t determine how near they were to the smaller plane. The JetBlue pilots pulled up safely.
