Electric motorcycles have long impressed riders with their superior performance in acceleration, speed, and towing capabilities. However, they have struggled to compete with traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) bikes when it comes to range. Evoke Motorcycles, a Beijing-based manufacturer is set to change this narrative with the highly anticipated North American debut of the 2024 Evoke 6061-GT electric motorcycle.

Evoke Motorcycles has a history of producing urban-oriented naked bikes with a focus on sporty commuter designs. In 2020, they introduced their original 6061 design, which marked their entry into the cruiser market with a groundbreaking frame concept.

What set the 6061 apart was its innovative twin-plate aluminum exo-frame, which not only looked unique but also offered something rarely seen in the industry – cruiser styling. Unlike the typical tight-tucked seating position found in most electric roadsters and sportbikes, the Evoke 6061 provided a relaxed cruiser frame design, filling a void in the market.

Impressive Updates for the 2024 Evoke 6061-GT

Now, Evoke Motorcycles is releasing the 2024 version of the 6061-GT, specially tailored for North America, with several significant updates. One of the standout features of this new model is the massive battery pack that promises impressive long-range touring capabilities.

The 2024 Evoke 6061-GT electric motorcycle is equipped with a formidable 30 kWh battery pack, delivering a remarkable range of up to 660 kilometers (410 miles) on a single charge. This range figure is what the company refers to as the “city range,” typically calculated at an average speed of around 50 km/h (31 mph), which is common in urban areas. This range significantly surpasses the capabilities of many existing electric motorcycles.

For mixed riding conditions, Evoke claims a range of 497 kilometers (308 miles), while highway speeds are expected to provide a range of 335 kilometers (205 miles). The powertrain is equally impressive, boasting 90 kW (120 hp) of power and 206 Nm (152 lb-ft) of torque, allowing the motorcycle to reach a top speed of 230 km/h (140 mph).

However, it’s important to note that achieving the stated 205 miles of highway range may be challenging at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

Enhanced Features and Availability

The 2024 Evoke 6061-GT electric motorcycle comes with updated exterior fairings that partially conceal the distinctive aluminum exo-frame. It also incorporates a lighter and more energy-dense axial flux motor, along with a wider set of tires for improved stability and handling.

In terms of charging, the motorcycle is equipped with a fast charging system that can recharge the battery to 80% in just 30 minutes when using a DC fast charging station. This feature, combined with the substantial battery capacity, is designed to cater to long-range riders who relish motorcycle touring, as explained by Evoke Motorcycles CEO, Nathan Siy.

Enthusiastic riders in the United States and Canada can already place orders for the Evoke 6061-GT electric motorcycle, although shipments are not expected to commence until April 2024.
